Idea for Final

Well, I have thought about an idea for the final and I think that I have come up with one. I think that I am going to write about what I said in class where no matter how bad you think your life is or how bad things are there are still things to be positive. I can write a pretty good essay about that because everyone has had experiences where they have had bad things happen to them all at once. Everyone has bad days, but there is always tomorrow to look forward to.

All Done

Well, I am finally finished with the entire project now and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. This project to a lot of work, but I definitely feel that it was worth it. This project has been one of the hardest and longest project that I ever did before, but it was nothing that I could not handle. It was a very interesting project and also an enjoyable project to do.

Almost Done

Well, I am almost done with the final project. I have finished the big research paper and I am also done with the fifth paper. I have yet to start on the sixth paper, but it should be easy as it is tying everything together. I still have to do the foreword and the works cited page, but that is nothing that I can't handle. I hope that this project comes out well as a lot of time and work went into it.

Project

Well today I am finishing up the first two paper of the project. The first one was really easy for me once I got into a momentum and the second one is pretty easy too. I have yet to receive the handout for the last paper and once I get that I will do that paper and be done with this project. I thought at first that the paper would be really difficult but I was able to do it in no time at all.

John Gatto and Alfie Kohn

All of the readings all tied together and all of them gave different arguments and also different point of views which I liked. Well it almost seems as if Gatto and Kohn are both saying that students do not need to go to school in order to learn. I think that this can be true because as John Gatto illustrated in his writings, he said that geniuses like Edison and Franklin were uneducated and they had learned on their own. I just think that if students did not have school then many of them would not care to educate themselves but there would be some that would try to learn as best as they could. I know that in the writings that they talk about school being like a prison and students are locked in there for five days a week and nine months a year for twelve years. I think that this is somewhat true because students hate going to school and will do anything to get out of going which is very similar to going to prison, in which no one wants to go there. Also, boredom is talked about and I believe that boredom is one of most common things in a classroom. Students will not pay attention to what the teacher is saying and, therefore the students education is affected. There is no real way to break out of this mold other then to make school more fun which is very hard to do unless there is a way, we just need to find out how.

Binta and The Great Idea

Soda's father does not want her to go to school because he thinks that a woman's job is to stay at home and take care of the children and clean the house. I think that his fears or concerns are that she would go to school and there would be nobody at the house to clean or take care of the children, also I think that he might believe that if she goes to school that she would be smart and maybe smarter than him. I do not know anybody like Soda's father and I hope that I never know anybody like Soda's father. Soda wants to go to school because she feels left out because all the rest of the girls are going and so is her little brother. She is left out and she feels that she needs to go to school and be one of the group and not an outsider. She also wants to be smart and learn through school so she can grow up and become what she wants to become. At the end when the children are saying that they became a doctor or have a very good profession now, that makes Soda angry and that is why she "calls out" her father and makes him let her go to school.

My name is Greg Pilafas and I moved here from Lockport after my senior year of high school. I now live in Hickory Hills after four years in Lockport. I am here because this is a required course and I would also like to increase my ability in writing for the future. I want to be here because I want to major in accounting and I am currently taking an accounting class here at Moraine and I plan to transfer after two years and go to a bigger business college to finish my four years. I would like to get my bachelor's degree or possibly my master's degree and one day become a CPA. Down the line I might really need this class because I might have to write a major paper for a job or for a company. This class will also prepare me for the next writing class that I will be taking. If I did not take this class then I would not be ready for the next writing course or for anytime that I would need to write something really important. School has taught me responsibility and the ability to succeed in whatever I can put my mind to. It has made me a smarter person and a person that can succeed at anything if I really apply myself and put my mind towards it.
